Confluence |
A confluence generally refers to the intersection of 2 or more rivers. The picture at the right is the confluence of the Murray and Darling rivers. There can also be coordinate confluences.
Every place around the world has a latitude and longitude. For instance, Parliament House in Hobart (pictured at left), has the coordinates: latitude 42° 53.129S longitude 147° 19.806E Notice the coordinates are not WHOLE numbers! |
There are many places on the Earth where BOTH the latitude and longitude intersect with whole numbers. For instance: latitude 42° 00.000S longitude 147° 00.000E At places where this occurs they are said to have coordinate confluence |
